Michael is the managing partner at MBR Tree Service and is also the lead climber. Having spent most of his adult life performing dangerous jobs. From Deploying overseas in the U.S. Marine Corps, to being a tower climber, a Federal Agent with Homeland Security, and a bouncer at a bar. He accomplished all this and more while earning a Bachelor’s Degree from The Rochester Institute of Technology. It wasn’t until he found his calling in Arboriculture that he decided to make it his life long career.
Michael grew up in Genesee County and was an avid outdoorsman. The call to be of service was always one that he knew he needed to answer and in 2005 he did just that. Enlisting in the Marine Corps at 18 years old and deploying to Iraq one year later. Michael would go on to deploy two more times, for a total of three combat deployments; two to Iraq and one to Afghanistan. These deployments gave him the leadership qualities and responsibility needed to run a successful company.
Once employed by Monroe County Parks Dept. Michael started to rise quickly within the ranks and became a supervisor of his own park in three years. Having spent most of his young adult life working with his hands and overcoming obstacles, it was easy to see the benefits that he brought to the position. Michael has instructed multiple classes for Monroe County on tree felling, forces and vectors of tree work, knot tying, introduction to climbing, and first aid safety. He is also a member of the DEC Region 8 “Re-Leaf” group for urban forestry.
